Qualifying For AAC Nationals

From: aac.ca

Qualifying for Nationals

As in past years, there are a couple of options for people who want to compete at Nationals but cannot attend their Regionals:

Competing at an Alternative Regionals

If you cannot attend your own Regionals, you can apply to run at one of the others. This option is limited in the sense that out-of-Region competitors can make up no more than 10% of the previous year's entry. Out-of-Region competitors cannot earn placements, but -- as of this year -- are not required to drop out of classes once they've earned points sufficient to qualify for Nationals.

To apply, send me an e-mail me, Kathryn Harvey, seldom@citizencanine.com, specifying your name, the name(s) of the dog(s) you wish to run at the alternative Regionals, your location and the location of the Regionals you wish to enter, and the reason you cannot attend your own Regionals.

Applications must be received no later than two weeks before the closing date of the Regionals you wish to enter. Once approved, you'll be required to secure and send in entries to the alternative Regionals. The trial secretary will be notified that your application has been approved.

One-Day Qualifier

If you cannot attend your own Regionals, another option is the one-day qualifier, held the day before and on the same site as Nationals. Entrants will run six courses, or as many as it takes to earn enough qualifying points, their choice. No placements will be offered, but Nationals qualifying ribbons will be provided to those who are successful. Entry is limited and not guaranteed. Applicants will be ranked according to the reason they missed their Regionals. Application forms will be available on the AAC and Nationals web sites when the Nationals premium is made available, and the deadline for application will be about a week before the Nationals closing date.
