Ontario Dog Sports Visits The K-9 Country Inn

This past weekend a couple of us from Ontario Dog Sports had the opportunity to attend the open house at the K-9 Country Inn in Cookstown. The facility features the first sanctioned Dockdogs® training area in Ontario and much more. Here is a snippet from their website.

"K-9 Country Inn is located in beautiful Cookstown Ontario in the rural countryside. At the Inn we work with you and your dog specifically to integrate your new K-9 companion into your lifestyle and and at the same time meeting their needs. Whether your dog is here for training or calling us home for any period of time, we understand the loving and trusting bond between pets and their families and we promise to honour that relationship as it were our own.

Our small training classes are now offered in obedience from puppy to competition. Sport Classes flyball, Rally O, Agility and what we call Fungility for those who want to have some active fun with their dogs but don't want to compete. Our newest addition to the centre is our Dock Diving pool open from May to October weather permitting. Canine Good Neighbour classes and testing are offered and in the future, look for tracking, protection, scent work, carting classes and competition obedience classes.

Think of us as the one place to meet all of your dogs needs. We are here for the long run, striving to develop long term relationships with our human and 4 legged friends"

The staff at the K-9 Country Inn were great, and had several demonstrations including a "Nascar" style agility race which even included pit stops, that looked like it was as much fun for the competitors as it was for the spectators.

The Fast N' Furry flyball team demonstrated their flyball skills which were certainly a crowd pleaser.

The day also included Tony from Working K9's who gave a great Shutzhund demonstration which really showed off the versatility of the discipline as it can be applied to all aspects of dog sports as well as general obedience.

This is a one stop facility for all of your dog sport training needs they also offer boarding and more, to check them out visit the link at the bottom of this post. Also, we managed to get some great video footage that you will see in upcoming posts! We at Ontario Dog Sports want to thank everyone at K-9 Country Inn for allowing us to take part in their open house!
