Think Your Dog Would Be A Great Disc Dog?

Hyperflite Skyhoundz Canine Disc Championships (Canadian — World Championship Qualifier Link)

The Hyperflite Skyhoundz Canine disc Championships is a series of more than 100 Local Championships, nine (U.S.) Regional Qualifiers, seven International Qualifiers, and the World Championship (held each year in the United States). Hyperflite’s sponsorship of the Skyhoundz World Canine Disc Championship series, the largest disc-dog series in the world, ensures that disc dog competitors – world-wide – will have exciting venues in which to compete.

Local Championships

Hyperflite Skyhoundz Local Championships are free events, open to all competitors regardless of experience. Neither prequalification nor advance registration is required for participation. Competitions consist of Distance/Accuracy or, at the discretion of the local host, a combined event featuring Distance/Accuracy and Freestyle. You are welcome to enter as many Hyperflite Skyhoundz Local Championships as you like.

Regional Qualifiers

Eligibility for Hyperflite Skyhoundz Regional Championships in the U.S. is based on residence in a geographic region. See map here.

At Hyperflite Skyhoundz Regional Championships and the Open Qualifier, top-finishing teams may qualify for invitations to the World Championship in the following divisions: Open Division (Freestyle and Distance/Accuracy combined), Sport Division (Distance/Accuracy), MicroDog Division (open to competitors with dogs that weigh less than 25 pounds or that are 16 or fewer inches tall – teams compete in both Freestyle and Distance/Accuracy), and Pairs Freestyle (two team members compete together in Freestyle with one dog). Invitations to the World Championship are extended, at each of these events or International Qualifiers, to the top four teams in Open and Sport Divisions and the top two teams in the MicroDog Division and Pairs Freestyle. For more information on competition formats, rules, and judging criteria, visit Skyhoundz here. Entry fees apply.

Open Qualifiers

At Hyperflite Skyhoundz Open Qualifiers, teams from around the world, without regard to the state or country of residence, may earn invitations to the World Championship. At present, in the U.S., there are Eastern and Western Open Qualifiers, as well as a Last Chance Open Qualifier held the day prior to the World Championship. Entry fees apply.

International Qualifiers

Canine disc play, for fun and competition has become the most popular canine sporting activity in the world. International Qualifiers are held in a number of countries including Canada, Belgium, Hungary, Japan, and The Netherlands. Competitors from any country may compete in the International Qualifier(s) of their choice. Entry fees apply.

World Championship

The Hyperflite Skyhoundz World Canine Disc Championship is the premier event in canine sports and features top competitive teams from around the world. Each year, more than 80 of the elite teams in canine disc sports qualify to compete in the World Championship held in a host city in the United States. At the World Championship, competitors can expect a memorable competitive experience, both on and off the field. There are always surprises and you won’t want to miss it!

If you decide to compete in a Hyperflite Skyhoundz Championship Series competition, you can involve the whole family. The events are family-oriented and open to throwers of all ages. Pound puppies can compete paw-to-paw with purebred canines. In fact, a number of shelter adoptees have gone on to win it all. We encourage you to compete in a Hyperflite Skyhoundz competition and see whether your canine has the right stuff.

Hyperflite Youth Championships

Hyperflite Flying Discs is pleased to sponsor the Hyperflite Youth Flying Disc Championships. These events are open to children 14 years of age and under, as of January 1, of each competition year and there is no entry fee to compete. If you have kids, the Hyperflite Youth Championships will be right up your alley. Introduced in 2002 with a series of Local Championships encompassing the events described below, Hyperflite plans to expand the program in the future.

Local Championships are stand-alone events, open to all children 14 years of age and under, and do not require prequalification or advance registration. Competitions consist of the following events; HyperZone, HyperPole and HyperDistance. You are welcome to enter as many Hyperflite Youth Competitions as you like.
