As a teacher, I get to watch lots of “inspirational videos. Michael Pritchard is a favorite of kids because he is funny, but I’m going to use his more serious message, “V.I.P. – vision, initiative, perspective.”
Have Vision
• In the summer, know what you are aiming for in the winter.
• Clarify what you are about– this includes both the actual competitive
goals and the quality of life goals.
• Establish short-term goals within your long-term goals.
Show Initiative
• Be proactive.Do little things along the way to head of fmore serious issues.
• Set your dogs up for successes and for controlled failures.
• Establish connections with people you admire.
Develop Perspective
• Decide what you must react to and what you can live with.
• Have patience.
• Solve problems with an open mind.
• Thoroughly appreciate every aspect o fbeing involved with dogs. You will never do anything like it again.
